St. Petersburg Receives Venezuelan Delegation With Honors

The Bolivarian officials traveled to the Russian city to participate in the new edition of the International Economic Forum.
On Wednesday, the city of St. Petersburg welcomed high-level Venezuelan officials with a mid-day cannon salute, following a tradition reserved for distinguished guests that was instituted by Peter the Great as a gesture of maximum hospitality.

“The shot was also dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the signing of the agreement creating the Russian-Venezuelan Binational Bank,” the Sputnik newspaper recalled.
The Venezuelan delegation is made up of Industries Minister Jose Rivas, Agriculture Minister Wilmar Castro, Tourism Minister Ali Padron, Social Movements Minister Guy Vernaez, Venezuelan Central Bank Director Calixto Ortega, the Venezuelan ambassador in Moscow Jesus Salazar, and the PDVSA-Russia subsidiary director Hoglys Martinez.
They traveled to the Russian city to take part in the 27th edition of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). Since 2013, Venezuela has actively participated in this annual event, which includes business rounds, thematic sessions, and high-level dialogues.
The SPIEF has established itself as one of the largest and most important business events in the world. In this year’s edition, whose main theme is “The basis of a Multipolar World. Formation of New Growth Points”, attendance of over 17,000 participants and delegations from 130 countries is expected.
Representing President Nicolas Maduro, Bolivarian officials will seek to further boost economic ties between Russian and Venezuelan economic actors.
They will also participate in analyzes and dialogues related to the oil market, digital banking, BRICS expansion, science and technology, geopolitics, cultural market, international cooperation, and trends in relations between Russia and Latin America and the Caribbean.
